Insight’s Academic Tutoring Program, which gives students additional academic support in Mathematics, English, History, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Foreign Language, is designed to work hand in hand with the Insight Counseling Program. At Insight, improving grades involves more than simply understanding the material. Students are also taught to have greater self-confidence, increased motivation, and more effective study skills.

CLOSE COLLABORATION
As a result of the close relationship between student and counselor, counselors are able to pinpoint and address factors that may be inhibiting the student’s progress and more importantly, convey them to the tutor. While counselors help students improve study skills, learn time management, and foster the motivation and discipline to learn and succeed, tutors ensure that students understand all the key concepts related to the subject itself.

A TEAM APPROACH
Insight counselors constantly monitor each student’s academic performance and help determine if and when a tutor may be necessary. As soon as a student begins to struggle in a certain class, counselors try to identify the source of the problem. If tutoring is recommended, the counselor will guide students in deciding which subjects they may need help in and how frequently they should meet with their tutor.

COMMITMENT TO QUALITY
At Insight, tutors are screened carefully to ensure that they are specialists in their field, have previous teaching experience, and a genuine passion for working with middle and high school students. In addition, Insight tutors are provided with appropriate textbooks, teaching materials, as well as an understanding of the student’s high school curriculum.

CONCRETE RESULTS
Parents do not need to worry about checking up on their student’s progress as Insight counselors become accountable for the quality and effectiveness of their tutors. Insight counselors monitor both tutors and students to ensure that the teaching is translating into higher test grades. If concrete results are not being realized, counselors sit down with tutors to identify what the obstacles may be and strategize to overcome them.

CONSTANT FEEDBACK
Before tutoring begins, counselors will communicate to tutors exactly what the problem areas are and give tutors an idea of the student’s academic goals. This allows tutors to understand the urgency of the situation as well as what would be the most effective teaching methods. Counselors then follow up every few weeks to make sure that progress is being made. Together, counselors and tutors work to optimize the student’s learning process.

MAXIMUM FLEXIBILITY
Students on the Insight Counseling Program can meet their tutors for as many or as few hours as they need. In fact, students can even have short-term tutoring to support them immediately before finals or large projects. Because we understand how busy parents and students can be, our tutors work around the student’s schedule.
