SAT Subject Tests serve as an opportunity for high school students to demonstrate strengths in particular academic subjects to the colleges they are applying to. Students should research the requirements and recommendations for the schools that they wish to apply to well in advance so that they may plan accordingly. Some colleges require two subject tests, others require three tests and others simply recommend a specified number or none at all. Some schools do not accept certain tests (e.g. the University of California schools no longer accept the Math 1C Subject Test) and other schools require certain tests (e.g. MIT requires either the Math 1C or the Math 2C and one Science test).

Because the New SAT now incorporates an 800 point Writing section, the SAT II Writing Subject Test is no longer offered by the Collegeboard. The tests offered are:
